Many of the foods that we avoid have all the necessary health benefits and nutrients that our bodies require. For those of us who suffer from wounds and injuries quite often, there are several foods that can we can lean towards in our diets. These foods not only promote healing but also contain many healing properties that aid in enhancing more of what our body needs and works on reducing what our body needs less of.

Here is a list of five foods that will aid towards fueling your body for recovery purposes:

  • Turmeric: This plant that is often available as a spice can be used both on the wound and can be ingested during the healing process. Health Shots – a website that specialises in women health issues – advises that a bit of turmeric be added into a glass of milk for ingestion purposes. To help with the wound, Health Shots advises that turmeric be applied directly to the wound for better results. This is because it contains both antiseptic and antibacterial properties.
  • Organ meats: Packed with vitamin A, iron, zinc, B vitamins, and copper, these meats come highly recommended as they contain many immune supportive nutrients, as well as nutrients that support the production of connective tissues. The nutrients found in these meats ”inhibit inflammatory cells” and play a significant role in the healing process after surgeries and illness, as suggested by Healthline – a health media property staffed by medical professionals.
  • Nuts and seeds: Providing your body with all the necessary fuel that it needs during the recovery stages are nuts and seeds such as almonds,  walnuts, pecans, sunflower seeds, and hemp seeds. Healthline mentions that these yummy treats are not only plant-based but are also rich in all forms of healthy fats that the body needs. Count on these tiny treats to provide your body with protein, healthy fats, vitamins and all the minerals it needs.
  • Berries: The vitamin C found in berries aids towards promoting “wound healing by stimulating the production of collagen.” The plant pigments that are responsible for giving berries their colorfulness provides our bodies with immune supporting effects.
  • Eggs: According to Health Shots, these are highly packed with all needed nutrients and more. One serving of eggs equates to several nutrients such as zinc, calcium, riboflavin, iron, vitamin A, E, B-complex, folic acid, and protein. Because eggs are so rich in nutrients, it is quite important that one includes them in their diet during recovery.
