South African gospel singer Ayanda Ntanzi has become one of the most talked-about names on social media after he was spotted participating in the recent anti-illegal immigration march.
His appearance quickly sparked widespread debate online, with many users weighing in on both his decision to attend and the broader issues surrounding illegal immigration in South Africa.

Mixed reactions flood social media
Videos and photos of Ntanzi at the march circulated across social media platforms, prompting thousands of comments.
Speaking to MDN News, Ntanzi said, “The Bible has said we are peacemakers. Now, we can’t be peacemakers on TikTok and Instagram. We’ve got to come down to the ground where people are.”
He further added that the very same people who are marching and sharing their concerns are the ones who have made Ayanda Ntanzi a brand with value.

Some users praised the award-winning gospel artist for publicly supporting what they described as calls for stronger immigration enforcement.
Others, however, questioned whether public figures should align themselves with politically sensitive demonstrations, arguing that celebrities have a responsibility to promote unity. Moreover, the question of Christian values was raised as some wondered whether it is fitting for a gospel musician to be part of a march which certain internet users have labelled as xenophobic.
“A gospel artist supporting a hate movement where people were killed, harassed, and attacked violently. Thank God I never listened to him in the first place,” commented one user.
“I thought he was a Christian, who should preach love,” added another.
Appreciating the musician’s presence at the march, an X user said, “Ayanda Ntanzi, salute… you’re brave and honest to stand what’s good for the country.”
”The right side of history,” commented one more.
The online conversation reflected the deeply divided opinions that continue to surround illegal immigration in South Africa, with supporters and critics expressing contrasting views on the issue.

Why the march is making headlines
The nationwide demonstrations attracted thousands of participants and were organised by groups advocating for stricter action against undocumented immigrants.
Organisers argue that illegal immigration contributes to unemployment, crime, and pressure on public services.
However, government leaders and human rights organisations have cautioned against blaming migrants for broader socio-economic challenges and have urged peaceful, lawful action.
Public figures under the spotlight
Ntanzi has not been alone in finding himself at the centre of public debate. Media personalities including TNS, Tumisho Masha, and Mmabatho Montsho have also weighed in on the topic of illegal immigration.
As influential personalities increasingly share their views on national issues, their actions often generate significant online engagement.
