Recently, Sol Phenduka posted screenshots of the listing, which shows a Johannesburg seller claiming to have the original award for the late rapper’s 2018 platinum-selling album.

The listing includes a photo of the plaque, plus details like 33,000 units sold and the date AKA received the award.

The seller marketed the plaque as a “special collector’s piece” aimed at fans, investors and SA hip-hop enthusiasts who value AKA’s legacy.

The price was set at R33,000 but the seller said they were open to negotiating with “serious buyers.”

They included photos to prove it was real and to justify the high price. But instead of attracting buyers, the post sparked backlash. Fans used the images to trace the plaque’s origins and question how it ended up for sale.

The alleged sale sparked outrage and questions from fans.

“The fact that they said it’s rare says a lot because it’s my 1st time to hear that the plaque can be sold to someone else,” commented one user.

“I wonder how did they get hold of it! Maybe is one of his Family members,  but I doubt they would sell it on market place. In fact it is a scam” read another comment.

Another internet user added: “Nothing to see here folks…All awards that have OFFICIALLY been awarded to Kiernan are with the Forbes family.”

“Ah that’s crazy, this is a tricky situation” said another out of concern.
