Who said burning belly fat had to be boring? If endless crunches and treadmill slogs aren’t your thing, dancing might be the fun and effective workout you’ve been looking for.

Dancing gets your heart pumping, torches calories, and engages your core—all while making you feel like the star of your own music video. The best part? You won’t even notice you’re working out because you’ll be too busy having a blast. So, lace up those dancing shoes, turn up the music, and let’s shimmy that belly fat away!

According to HealthShots, Zumba is a high-energy cardio and core exercise and is ideal for weight loss due to its controlled abdominal movement and core strengthening. The publication adds that a study found that one hour of Zumba can burn 300-900 calories.

The above source also mentions that hip-hop dancing, involving popping and locking, can help burn 500-700 calories in an hour, burn fat, and develop coordination and stamina. “A study, published in the Brazilian Journal of Physical Activity and Health, recommends hip-hop dance as a way to reduce weight in obese children and adolescents as this dance form increases flexibility, strength and endurance.”

Hip circles is a belly dancing move targeting the obliques and glutes, claims Livestrong. It is said to involve standing with feet hip-distance apart and lifting arms slightly. Begin by warming your hips and moving in a circular motion for 90 seconds, repeating in the opposite direction.

The Fitness World website suggests Latin dance forms like Cha-Cha, Salsa, Rumba, and Reggaetón, as they are effective for belly fat reduction. It is mentioned that Salsa targets around 500 calories per hour. Ballroom dancing is said to work on rare muscle groups, while ballet dancing offers a full-body workout by stretching and lengthening muscles.
