Car Review – FORD FIESTA 1.0 ECOBOOST

Our isiXhosa translator, Siviwe Kulu, had the privilege of test-driving the 2016 Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Titanium to the 2016 Top Two Idols SA event. This is what he had to say…

EXPERIENCE

The car is impressive – its performance is almost the same as that of a luxury sports car. This Ford baby has 92kW horsepower, and you will be excused for underestimating the power because of the size of the car. But, it is remarkable in comparison to that of other cars in the same segment. The pickup is slow; but once it has gained its momentum, the car is extremely fast.

It possesses a funky and sexy look, making it the best choice if you want to impress your friends or a girl on your first date. The sexy LED ambient lighting package makes it look sporty while providing clear visibility. I made a statement when I arrived at the Pretoria State Theatre. Beating the bends is easy with this car because it is stable and yielding when navigating sharp curves.

THE SPECS

The Ford Fiesta 1.0 EcoBoost Titanium has a lot of features that make it the best among cars of its calibre. The most notable one is the keyless entry system. This allows you to open the car’s doors without using your keys or remote. So, for example, when carrying your groceries with both hands, you can open the door you want by getting close to it. The car will sense the keys in your pocket or handbag and open automatically. The car also has seat warmers mostly associated with luxury cars.

Its lights automatically switch on when driving at night or when entering a darker area. It also has sensors that activate wipers automatically to clear the windscreen when it rains as well as rear reverse sensors that alert you of obstacles behind you when reversing. It also has a smooth stop-start system to save you on fuel and cruise control that’s handy on the long open roads. To top it all, changing song tracks on a CD is as easy as just saying a command and your wish will be fulfilled.

SHORTCOMINGS

On the downside, this car lacks space – it has no leg or headroom, which makes it suitable for a single person. Though the keyless entry system is fantastic, the car does not have a keyholder inside, which makes it easy to misplace the key. Lastly the pickup is bad.
