South African RnB singer Rowlene has courageously shared the challenges she faces within the local music industry, shedding light on the realities many artists experience behind the scenes.

In her Instagram post, she revealed the complexities and obstacles that often stifle creativity and progress in a competitive, evolving market.

Rowlene’s journey highlights several key struggles common among musicians in South Africa, especially RnB artists. These include difficulties in gaining fair recognition and support, navigating an industry that can be unpredictable and sometimes unforgiving, with the challenge of balancing artistic integrity with commercial demands.

In her Instagram caption, she mentioned something profound, asking, ” If this is happening to me, I can only imagine smaller artists trying to navigate this industry man and my heart is just broken … And it’s hard cause am I volatile for speaking up? Unfortunately, even after begging for 8months .. yeah idk”

Her openness encourages a broader conversation about how the industry can become more inclusive and supportive, and PAY the artists after doing gigs.
