Luxury lifestyles show Top Billing made its highly anticipated return to South African screens just a few weeks ago, and the comeback has already become one of the country’s hottest talking points.

Known for its glamour, sophistication, and aspirational lifestyle content, the iconic series returned with a fresh new energy and a star-studded lineup of hosts.

The lineup features stars whose vibrant energy and captivating voices promise to bring a refreshing dynamic to the show.

But while the return of the beloved show has generated excitement, the South African audience is not quite happy. Unlike the old days of endless high-end shows showcasing extremely luxurious houses, some South Africans are complaining about Top Billing losing its luxurious status.

Last night’s episode, which aired on 21 May 2026, showcased the talented rapper Gigi Lamayne with Zozi Tunzi joining her for high tea. Well, some fans didn’t see that as high-end luxurious content.

Online users took to the X streets to share their views on last night’s episode, with one X account tweeting, “Nothing is happening. They gave us nothing but BOTTOM BILLING.”

#TopBilling return is epic failure #TopBilling has no space in our current landscape

Can this shit show… since the first episode ,
There’s nothing happening .. they gave us nothing but BOTTOM BILLING

Another person shared, “I don’t think Top Billing lost its mojo, social media has overexposed EVERYTHING. Ferraris and R30 million houses don’t excite folks anymore because anyone with a phone and access has given us a front-seat view to the lavish lifestyle on a regular basis. Now we’re numb to it.”

Some fans came to their defence with one X user tweeting, “Top Billing has not fallen off at all. They are still good and luxurious. The episode has various segments you chose to deliberately ignore.”
