Spring refresh: small changes to revitalise your home decor

With temperatures warming up and flowers showing signs of blooming, spring is just around the corner. The season’s change brings a sense of rebirth and renewal. Why not shed your winter blankets and put away your sweaters as you get ready for the new spring refresh? After a long winter season, where do you even start to spruce up your home and make it feel as renewed as spring? Here are a few ways you can get your house running-ready for the spring season.

Open the windows

Before starting any projects around the house, the first and foremost thing you can do to freshen up your home is to open the windows. Invite some fresh air into your home by opening the windows in each room. The windows will allow for air circulation to kick out the stagnant, stuffy smell brought by winter. Even if the weather is still a bit chilly in the country, opening the windows for an hour is still essential.

Spring clean the house

It’s time to store away your winter gear. Understandably, some parts of the country may still be cold, especially in the morning and evening. Store away the big jackets and blankets you no longer use. Declutter and organise your winter stuff accordingly. With the clutter cleared out and your winter items stored, it’s time to get to the serious work. Start by vacuuming carpets and cleaning floors, not forgetting wiping down mouldings with a damp cloth. Clean the windows inside and out to let in even more sunlight. Don’t forget to dust all those hard-to-reach places that you neglected during winter.

Rearrange furniture

One way to give your home a fresh look is by rearranging your furniture. If you’re feeling bored with the current layout in most of your spaces, rearranging is the way to go. Try placing the bed against a different wall. Shifting your couches, armchairs and tables into new positions. This can and will make a big difference in giving your home a refreshed look.

Update your interior with spring décor

As you refresh your home for the spring season, colours are key. Think bright, cheerful hues for everything. Lively new splashes of décor and accessories can go a long way. The correct spring decor is a great way to introduce cheerful colours into your space. Swap out the neutral settings for lighter, brighter centrepieces, from art to new pillows and not shying away from prints and patterns.

By adopting a few of these suggestions, you can embrace the soft breezes and the fragrant blooming buds of spring as you welcome the fresh air into your space.
