After purchasing a bottle of juice from giant retail company Woolworths, a shopper was met with a horrible surprise of more than just juice inside the container.

To most South Africans, Woolworths, often shortened to Woolies, is a brand that is seen to provide top-quality products. So, it comes as a shock to hear that a shopper had found “black stuff” at the bottom of the bottle.

An X (formerly known as Twitter) user, named Lulama Lulu, took to the app to share an unidentifiable substance found in their bottle of Woolies brand tropical splash-flavoured juice.

“Just found this inside a @WOOLWORTHS_SA juice bottle. We poured the juice and black stuff was coming out. We shook the bottle and could feel there was something else inside. Opened the bottle and this is what we found. @WOOLWORTHS_SA, what’s this?” asked the X user.

Providing a closer look at the “black stuff,” Lulama added, “This looks like intestines or something. I’m disgusted and traumatised! Taking all of these juices back. I’m never buying them again!”

Asking for Lulama’s contact details and more information about the product, Woolies responded to the post, saying, “Oh no, that’s definitely not the juicy surprise we aim for, Lulama! We’re so sorry for the unexpected twist in your sip. Let’s sort this out,” which rubbed a few X users the wrong way.

Oh no, that’s definitely not the juicy surprise we aim for, Lulama! 🥺We’re so sorry for the unexpected twist in your sip. Let’s sort this out – could you please DM us your contact details and more info about the product?
