Our top 5 handbag essentials needed for winter

With winter coming, it is important to be prepared for what is it about to serve us. Sure, other seasons have their fair share of ‘struggle,’ but winter is one of those seasons where the struggle is real!

If these items are not part of your handbag staples, make sure to include them now before the start of the colder seasons.

Lip balm

While walking down the street and meeting up with friends, the first thing they will notice is your face… followed by your lips. Avoid chapped, winter lips by storing one (or two, just in case) of your favourite lip balms in your handbag. Whenever you feel your lips are starting to become dry and cracked, simply reach in your bag to moisturise them.

Moisturiser or sunscreen

The rest of our skin is also prone to dryness. Keep your skin looking and feeling hydrated by storing a bottle or tub of your moisturiser in your handbag.

Even though the sunny days have gone, that does not mean that you will not be exposed to the sun during winter. You can also store a bottle of sunscreen to apply to the exposed parts of your body, should you not have moisturiser.

Items for protection

With the days becoming shorter and the nights becoming darker, it is important to put your safety first, not only in winter but throughout the year too.

Make sure you have a torch, as well as a bottle of pepper spray for your protection. Along with these items, it is also advisable to carry a personal alarm on your person.

Tissues

With winter being known as the cold and flu season, it is essential that you have a packet of tissues with you. You do not want to be a snotty mess all around town!

Scarf and gloves

I’m sure that freezing your butt off is not on your to-do list. Get winter-ready by storing a scarf and a pair of gloves in your handbag. If you work in an office where you are typing all day, opt for fingerless gloves for simultaneous warmth and ease.
