Capetonian entrepreneur Nathaniel Johnson has proven that a positive mindset and commitment lead to success. The local businessman went from selling chicken out of his car to becoming a self-made millionaire in three years.

From nursing to entrepreneurship

Nathaniel, who currently owns businesses and business models, spoke to content creator Black Savage in a TikTok video posted on 17 May 2026. He explained that by selling a R75 bag of chicken for R100, he made R25 profit. He also sold sneakers and grew his business while also investing in himself.

Previously a nurse, who later retired from the profession, Nathaniel revealed that he became a millionaire at 32 in September 2024. Sharing more information about himself, he stated that he was the first in his family to matriculate.

“I was ambitious, wanted more. When I studied nursing, my mind opened to business. I started reading business books. God doesn’t condemn a man to be rich, as long as he does it in a proper way,” said Nathaniel, who opted to reinvest in his business after his financial success.

“If you’re an entrepreneur, you have to start small to think big. You have to be almost mad because nobody is going to believe in you. Nobody believed in me. You have to sell and think like a mad person to be an entrepreneur. You have to see the future that’s not there.”
