By now you’ve probably heard of glamping. For those who haven’t, glamping is ‘glamorous camping,’ which entails exactly what the name implies. Think of glamping as the halfway house between an expensive bush lodge and an inexpensive backpacker.

If you find the idea of falling asleep under a starry sky beside a campfire alluring, but the thought of tossing and turning in a thin sleeping bag unappealing, then glamping is for you!

1. Bush Willow Tented Camp

Nestled in the Muldersdrift countryside, Bush Willow offers scenic sunsets, game viewing, and hiking up the Zwartkops Mountain. It’s a mere 30-minute drive from Joburg.

The camp is built in a section of the Glenburn Lodge and Spa, surrounded by indigenous bush on the Blaauwbank River.

The rustic tented accommodation features ten large walk-in tents, sleeping up to six people each. Accommodation includes an indoor shower, toilet, and a small kitchenette, as well as a communal braai area.

3. Sibani Lodge

Sibani Luxury Tents is one of the perfect glamping spots near Johannesburg: there is no wifi available and they use a solar electrical supply which allows for some lighting and charging of cellphones, nothing else.
