Internet users shocked as alcohol offered at gravesite

A recent photo circulating online has sparked heated debates, as it shows alcohol being offered at a gravesite instead of the traditional water. Some view it as a meaningful tribute to the deceased, while others express concern about the potential consequences, especially given how alcohol can affect behaviour.

A recent post by @LihleonX on X (formerly Twitter) has stirred significant controversy, showing a funeral parlour where staff dressed in uniforms and resembling waiters at a club were seen serving various types of alcohol at a gravesite.

Traditionally, funerals involve solemn practices and rituals, with water often offered at some gravesites as a symbol of respect and purification.

Many users expressed concern that the presence of alcohol, combined with the waitstaff-like setup was too much.

However, not everyone was opposed. Some users were supportive of the move, viewing it as a personal and meaningful send-off to their loved one.

Another user added:

Water doesn’t comfort me enough, I sometimes need double tot of Jameson just to be able to breath and make sense of the whole thing so we really need anything that can help us to cope with such moments of loss.
