PICTURE: PEXELS/ INDOOR ACTIVITIES

As school children are enjoying their winter holidays at home, it becomes a parent’s responsibility to keep them busy, entertained and  free from wallowing in boredom.

This way, holidays will go smoothly for both children and their parents until the new school term resumes.

Here are some indoor activities that are guaranteed to keep your children entertained:

Hide-and-Seek: This is a timeless favourite that requires no materials. It will help to keep them entertained for some time and is easy to explain.

“One participant, dubbed the ‘seeker’, closes their eyes and counts to a predefined number while the other players conceal. Screaming, ‘Ready or not, here I come!’ the seeker searches for the concealing players as soon as the predefined count is reached. The goal is for the hiders to remain hidden for as long as possible while the seeker searches for them.

According to BallBits, playing this game stimulates fast thinking and ingenuity. Children enjoy the excitement of finding the perfect hiding place or being the first to spot someone concealed. In addition to its entertainment value, hide-and-seek fosters strategic thinking, social skills, and physical activity.

Family band party: This is a fun game that will have the whole family playing and having fun. The required materials are utensils, plastic bottles, small buckets or empty yoghurt tubs.

Prodigy cited that this game helps children build basic music skills. Start by tapping familiar songs using utensils on empty bottles or buckets. Then challenge them to find other household materials to make music with.

Cooking Show: As much as this game is fun, it is also beneficial for the participants because they will eat afterwards. It will require pots, child-friendly recipes, pans and utensils; as well as a camera to film your show.

This activity will teach your children safe basic cooking skills and help them to develop a love for cooking.
