How to make an impressive cheese board

Cheese boards are one the greatest inventions since sliced cheese! Whether you are accommodating a large or small number, these cheese boards are most ideal for holiday season as they are great for those hosting and even perfect for those attending.

The wide variety that one cheese board comes with is enough to keep all your guest happy and eating away while they wait for the main course.

These inventions also encourage the concept of shared eating which is most likely to spark conversations at large or intimate gatherings. Whether you are prepping for a picnic, girls night, luncheon, or a celebration, these boards will have your back.

What is a cheese board?

Cheese boards are serving boards that are often stylish that are often filled with different types of finger foods that complement one another, often mostly enjoyed as a share food.

What do cheese boards consist of? 

The fun part about these boards is that the staple treats are the different types of cheese with the rest being absolutely up to you. However, do not that the traditional cheese boards include cold meat, crackers, a tasty spread like honey or jam, and fruits. Remember it is entirely up to you to keep them simple or take it a top notch by adding some more food items for extra personality.

What should the setup look like?

Presentation matters, so to make your boards appear a bit more upscale be sure to include different colours and be sure to include more than just one cheese. You cannot call it a cheese board and not have a selection of cheese to play around with, three cheeses usually do the trick.

Feel free to go all out with the layout of the foods on the board.

What types of cheese are there to work with?

The Modern Proper advises the best cheeses for this setup to be:

Firm cheese: An aged white cheddar or cheddar along with Parmigiano-Reggiano.

Soft cheese: Camembert, Chèvre or Brie

Semi-firm cheese: Manchego, Gruyère or Comté.

Semi-soft cheese: Fontina, muenster or Gouda.
