What is a self-care checklist and why is it so important?

Well, there are a lot of misconceptions around self-care. And often people associate self-care checklists to getting facials, taking bubble baths, and buying new face serums which may bring you temporary joy, but these activities aren’t essential to preserving your health and wellbeing. Self-care is the practice of improving your physical and mental health.

A self-care checklist serves as a guide to help you maintain your designated habits. It is meant to help you monitor yourself and see whether or not you are complying. It is also intended to help you track your progress and revise your plan accordingly if needed.

Having this kind of checklist helps you maintain a healthy mind and body. It makes your life less stressful and worrisome, and also helps you to develop more skills and knowledge.

Self-care is one of the best ways to practice self-love, according to Fabulous Blog who are advocates of self-love, advising individuals to practice the following; meditation, exercise and decluttering methods.

Some practical daily tips to help you commit to in practicing self-care are:

  • Plan enough rest for your week
  • Go outside every day
  • Journal as often as you can
  • Practice mindfulness
  • Make use of healthy boundaries
  • Practice self care
  • Reflect daily on things you are grateful for
  • Do activities that spark joy as often as you can
  • Visualize your future and allow yourself to dream

But you have to remember that self-care is personal—yourself, your choice. We all have a different approach when it comes to gratifying ourselves, so there is no need to worry about what other people might think when you indulge yourself.

Self-care is an essential part of practicing self-love, and isn’t always easy. But it can definitely improve your life in many ways you might have never expected.
