Relationships are more than just physical touch. Apart from love, respect and commitment, it is also about the emotional intimacy you share with your partner which can be done through conversation.

Lifestyle and relationship publication Marriage explains that intimate conversations involve being with and enjoying the company of your loved one while conversating about topics that have an emotional value. These conversations can greatly strengthen the bond you have with your partner while also resolving intimacy issues you may be facing.

The above-mentioned publication provides a few tips on how to keep the intimacy going through conversation.

Initiate the conversation

This can be done by asking questions and providing details about yourself. Questions may include the following examples:

  • What qualities make me special to you?
  • How do you describe me to others?
  • What is the first thing you noticed about me?

Not only can such questions help you understand your compatibility with your partner but they can also encourage your boo to add to the conversation.

Talk about when you fell in love

This is a great way to maintain an emotional connection with your partner through communication. Try initiating a conversation about the moment you realised your significant other was “the one.”

Support your partner

If your partner shares with you something that affected them in a certain way, show them that you are a supportive partner by telling (and showing) them that you will always be by their side and helping them move past the incident.

Schedule quality time

It is important that you and your partner make time for one another. Whether it is a date night or just chilling on the couch, such time spent together will foster a deeper connection. Furthermore, prioritising each other can strengthen the bond, creating opportunities for heartfelt conversations.

Show appreciation and gratefulness

Tell your partner how appreciative and grateful you are to have them in your life. You can also express to them how much you value their time and how much the relationship means to you.
