Home remedies for mosquito bites

by Unathi Balele
Mosquitoes can turn a fun indoor activity or trying to sleep into a nightmare. Their bites can be itchy, painful, and even lead to infections. But fear not, there are several home remedies that can provide relief from mosquito bites.

Super Nutritious suggests the follow home remedies to treat mosquito bites:

1. Ice: One of the easiest and quickest remedies for mosquito bites is to apply ice. Simply wrap a few ice cubes in a cloth or use a cold compress and apply it to the bite area for 10-15 minutes. This will help reduce inflammation and relieve itching.
2. Aloe vera: Aloe vera is a natural anti-inflammatory and has cooling properties that can soothe mosquito bites. Apply fresh aloe vera gel to the affected area and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with cold water.
3. Baking soda: Baking soda is an effective remedy for mosquito bites. Make a paste by mixing baking soda with a few drops of water and apply it to the bite area. Let it dry for a few minutes before washing it off with cold water. This will help reduce swelling and itching.
4. Honey: Honey has antibacterial and anti-inflammatory properties that can help soothe mosquito bites. Apply a small amount of honey to the affected area and leave it on for 10-15 minutes before washing it off with cold water.
5. Apple cider vinegar: Apple cider vinegar has acetic acid, which can help reduce inflammation and itching. Dilute apple cider vinegar with water in equal parts and apply it to the bite area with a cotton ball. Leave it on for a few minutes before washing it off with cold water.
These remedies are easy to use, and you probably already have most of them at home. If you experience severe swelling or develop a fever after a mosquito bite, seek medical attention immediately.
