Galentine’s Day ideas

One of the most anticipated days of the year is February 13—and no, that’s not a typo. Galentine’s Day is the day before Valentine’s Day, which is a celebration of all female friendships. Sure, February 14th is all about Valentines, heart sweets, and romantic relationships.

What is Galentine’s?

Since the first “Galentine’s Day” episode aired in 2010, which made Leslie Knope from the TV show Parks and Recreation famous, this made-up holiday has become very popular in the real world. The best day of the year, as Leslie puts it, is just around the corner. My female friends and I simply show up and have a breakfast-style altercation on February 13th, leaving our husbands and boyfriends at home.

Look over our list of fun activities to do on Galentine’s Day, then get in touch with your friends to plan an amazing excursion, establish a yearly ritual, schedule a virtual lunch date, or do anything else that tickles your your fancy.

1.Staycation

Save your vacation days for your next girls’ trip and spend quality time with your close friends exploring your city. We’re talking about a day or two of no work, no worry, enjoying the surroundings, and creating countless memories with loved ones!

2.Brunch

For those of you who’d rather celebrate earlier in the day, follow Leslie Knope’s lead with a “breakfast-style” celebration that can most certainly involve both waffles and mimosas.

3. Learn something new

Sign up for a class and ask your friends to join you, whether it’s cooking, crafting, painting, learning a language, yoga, or anything else you’d consider yourself a newbie at . You’ll hopefully learn how to use some new abilities in addition to having a ton of fun and laughter!

4. Good old sleepover

Bring out your old yearbooks, don face masks, gather magazines and nail polish, play Would You Rather or Truth or Dare, and bake some pizza bagels for a night that is a complete throwback.

5. Spa Day

Relaxation, rejuvenation and plenty of pampering. Between facials, manicures, massages, hair treatments and more, treating yourself will be even better with your girlfriends. Call ahead to see if your go-to salon or spa has group options during this time, and then enjoy a different kind of face mask for a change!
