DIY winter wedding ideas

Not breaking the bank when it comes to planning a wedding is always a plus.

Instead of spending money creating lavish paper invitations, rather send a just-as-lavish invite digitally. This way, you are saving your pennies and the environment.

There are also ways to save some bucks if your wedding takes place in winter. While the cold wind blows, start creating your show stopping masterpieces in the comfort of your own home.

Use pine cones

If you are wanting to choose the natural route, how about using pine cones! You can easily find them scattered under conifer trees in parks, gardens or forests. You could even use this opportunity to scavenger hunt with your partner.

The pine cones can either be used as part of your decor or as a place card holder. Not a fan of the colour? Then spray paint them to fit your colour scheme.

Decorate your naked cake with natural accents

Instead of having your cake slathered in icing or wrapped in fondant, embrace a naked cake with natural accents that fit your winter theme.

Once you have bought or baked your cake, allow yourself and your partner to embellish it with natural decorations such as edible flowers or herb leaves, such as rosemary.

Design and create your own cake toppers

Avoid spending hundreds on your 3D-printed wedding cake topper and do it yourself! Grab ice lolly sticks that you have (hopefully!) set aside during the summer and gather the necessary tools – for example, cardboard, colouring utensils and scissors.

This is a great opportunity to involve the kids in your wedding planning.
