Aren’t you tired of spending money on expensive cleaning supplies for your household?

Well, save your money and try the hack of using bicarbonate of soda or baking soda, if you normally used it only for baking , think again because we have a list of things you can clean using it and health benefits while you at it.

This alkaline white powder that’s ubiquitous in modern kitchens has been used in a lot of households for far more things than we realize.

According to Healthline here are some safe benefits of using baking soda:

  1. You can use it for washing your clothes, it works better than your normal pricey washing powders. If you soak off your clothes for 12 to 15 minutes it is enough to remove 80 to 96 percent of certain pesticides.
  2. A simple teaspoon of water with bicarbonate of soda can clean many things in your kitchen, for example, food residue, fridge, microwaves, sprinkle a bit down the drain with hot water to clean your pipes, tubs and floors.
  3. It is safe to clean pots and pans.
  4. If you suffer from heartburn, add ½ teaspoon to ½ cup of water and drink. The alkaline baking soda will neutralize excess acid.
  5. You can treat nail infection with BoS and water for a soak, this will help because BoS has antifungal properties.
  6. You can use it for carpet stains.
  7. It works as a shoe deodorizer for smelly shoes and that’s because it can counteract foul-smelling odors.

Healthline also recommends sealing the baking soda in a air tight container after every use and store it in a cool dry place.
