Social media has become an extension of ourselves and who people view us to be, these days if you want to know someone go to their social media timelines.

Although, it’s a cool platform to express yourself and have fun you never know who is watching, a possible employer, a customer, your future romantic partner, the list is endless.

We have seen people lose out on jobs because of what they post, losing out on business ventures because you made a blunder, fall victim to black twitter and cancel culture.

However, there is a positive side to the negative, according to Search Engene Journal social media has the power to grow your brand, launch your business and connect you to the world.

Here are five things you should avoid on social media according to Digital Marketing Institution:

Posting insensitive content

Insensitive content can be anything, for example, if you keep on second guessing yourself you probably shouldn’t be posting it.

Even if you tell yourself you will delete soon, there are screen grabbers now who will screen grab your post in seconds with your name and remind you of it one day.

Separate yourself from your business

Often times you will forget to switch accounts and might post in a wrong account, never post when you’re in a hurry, even after posting preview your status.

Overselling your products or too judgmental

Don’t ever be ashamed of selling your products and talking about them, but find engaging ways of doing it but not only posting about your product but other content that’s related to what you offer.

Buying followers

This is an easy way out, but wouldn’t you rather have 5 engaging people that 5k followers who don’t help you grow your brand?

Some marketing companies have a way of finding out about pages that has bought its followers, If you’re a striving influencer, its best to work for your following.

Not editing before you post on your accounts

You must proof read every time before posting something on social media, everything you post on social media becomes solidified as part of your digital marketing footprint.
