Share a meal this World Food Day

by Kwanele Mathebula

The 16th of October 2017 is World Food Day and in an effort to fight hunger you’re invited to participate in feeding a child in need using your social media accounts. KNORR has partnered with a national non-profit organization FoodForward SA to donate one real meal for every Facebook post or tweet with the hashtag, #ShareAMealSA.

“Sadly one-third of food produced in South Africa gets dumped in landfills while over 14 million people go hungry,” states FoodForward SA Managing Director Andy Du Plessis.

To mark the occasion, KNORR and FoodForward SA will host an event on the 16th where they will supply over 200 nutritious meals to children at the Pauline Podbrey Foundation in Khayelitsha, Cape Town – a beneficiary of FoodForward SA.

This initiative hopes to raise mass awareness about the food insecurity problem in South Africa by highlighting the importance of good nutrition and making food accessible to more people.  “This World Food Day we are appealing to all foodies who would usually post a recipe or appetizing food image to turn their food posts from a virtual meal into a real meal by sharing their image with the hashtag #ShareAMealSA.  It’s a chance for everyone to do their bit to help stop hunger,” says Keegan Eichstadt from KNORR.

Get involved by simply using #ShareAMealSA and help stop hunger from the tip of your fingers!
