“It’s a journey I believe in,” ♀  – Mapaseka Koetle Nyokong

Popularly known as “Dintle” on Scandal, Mapaseka Koetle-Nyokong is so much more than what you see on your screens.

Against the odds

Mapaseka didn’t wake up one day as an actress and a star; it was a struggle to get to where she is now. “I wanted so many things in my life,” she says, “and I knew acting was one of the things I loved doing, my plan A, my ultimate want.”

She doesn’t regret her journey, however, as it reminds her that she can do anything, despite the odds.

“For me, #PeriodsOrNotSheCan is more than just a campaign,” she says, adding that it highlights the journey that women are taking every day to better themselves. “It’s a journey I believe in.”

Working to better others’ lives

Acting, however, is not the only thing Mapaseka keeps herself busy with. She is also a businesswoman and blogger as well as running Girls Sanitary Drive. Girls Sanitary Drive strives to keep girls from poor communities in school throughout the month – even during that time of the month – by giving them sanitary pads that they can wear.

“For me, #PeriodOrNotSheCan is more than just a campaign, it highlights the journey that women are taking on an everyday basis to better themselves, a journey that reminds women that they too can, despite the odds. It’s a journey I believe in,” adds Mapaseka.

Nothing should stand in the way of your goals

Mapaseka is a shining star, proving that you can follow your dream, no matter the odds. By setting a goal to strive for, you need only work hard and believe in yourself to reach it.

Nothing should stand in the way of your goals – not even that time of the month.
