Eastern Cape philanthropist and mom Marion Peake sets out to challenge the beauty standards that have been set by society after she won the Mrs Eastern Cape 2024.

Marion who is currently reigning as Queen battled with breast cancer for a while and has been using her social media platforms to spread awareness of the disease as a way to help other women.

She also has a non-profit organisation with her husband called Helping Those In Need which assists people in need of essentials.

The pageant winner and foster mother was candid about achieving her dream of winning the beauty pageant to which she told information hub, BrieflyNews that, “My journey to becoming Mrs Eastern Cape Queen has been one of self-discovery. Won in a year where the Bokke won the World Cup and in the reigning year of 2024, where the trend has been coloured people rising to the occasion.”

Marion posted on Instagram after winning with the caption, “I give all glory and honor to our heavenly father for the grace upon my life. This isn’t about the title but the story behind the purpose of this crown. I wear it with dignity, honor, humility for those in need, and to be a role model for all women who feel inadequate, powerless, rejected, and scared. This is a symbol of favor that awaits you. I am worthy, seen, valuable.”

During the interview with the above mentioned information hub she says, “It felt like an honour bestowed on my chest, not just my head. This moment has freed my voice even more. This was a voice of confidence I so badly needed to help women who also feel trapped within their bodies. I have taken to TikTok to share my cancer journey and engage with so many women and family members who have lost loved ones. So many women fight inner battles thinking nobody understands them.”

She hopes to get more opportunities as a way to bring awareness as she ventures into SterStatus Season 6.
