Build Your Summer Body This Winter

by Keletso Modisakeng

With the cold days around, motivation for working out seems to decrease. Don’t feel too guilty though, your body also needs a break and there is nothing wrong with taking some time to relax and enjoy a few treats. The key is to keep a balance in your diet and workout. USN shares some tips and general guidelines on how you can build your ultimate summer body throughout winter.

1.Carbs aren’t bad for you

It’s important to remember that carbohydrates (bread, rice, papa and potatoes) are not the enemy. But, as with any macronutrient, overindulgence only results in an imbalanced eating plan. Your body needs more nutrients that are available in vegetables and fruits as well as a high quantity of protein to help burn fat faster. Establishing the base line is your first step to metabolic management, improved weight and increased body composition control. Believe it or not, you can eat more calories without increasing body fat levels.

2. Diet and fitness

For optimal results, combine your diet change with an exercise routine. A workout at any time of day that works for you is fine, as long as you are sticking to a plan. This will help you to help reset your metabolism, positively influence hormones, improve your sleep, and quicken recovery to get back into a healthy and balanced routine.

3. Set goals

Your personal goals could be anything from losing weight to gaining muscle, or to simply get fit. This will not only help you track your progress, but rather encourage you to keep your eye on the prize, keeping you motivated on your specific goal. No matter how warm the house feels against the cold morning air this winter, you need to get up and out of bed and start your day in a healthy way, achieving your goals one by one. This is the first step in making sure you start your new lifestyle on the right track and with right mindset.

4. Change it up

A fit and healthy body doesn’t happen overnight, so give it time, and week by week you will start seeing the results you’ve been planning to achieve. You can also keep your workouts fun and interesting by switching it up. Try something new – there are all sorts of alternative exercise options out there. No matter what you choose, spicing it up will keep you interested and motivated to stay on track.

5. Stay motivated

Whether you are a first-time dieter or a fitness fanatic, there are a wide variety of ways in which you can make the most of the quiet winter months to prepare for a sizzling summer. Regardless of your fitness level, it is possible to stay inspired and motivated to keep fit and stay fit.
