With the warm December month fast approaching, most people enjoy the thrill of indulging in many fun outdoor activities and having a blissful experience on the beach – however – with all these fun adventures there might be something that spoils our mood – the return of mosquitoes.

“Mosquitoes are ectothermic. This means the air temperature influences their body temperature. In hotter weather, their metabolism increases, making them more active and likely to seek out ‘blood meals,’ explains the Moultrie County Health Department.

According to the healthcare website, the reason for this is that just like humans and animals, mosquitoes can become dehydrated during long hot summer days, and usually turn to humans as their source of hydration.

Additionally, the online blog Rentokil South Africa explains that mosquitoes enjoy breeding in warm and damp conditions. This is why it is important to get rid of standing water as this is the perfect spot to do this.

“Assess your property to ensure that trenches or drains aren’t blocked and that all water features have free-flowing water,” explains the online blog Rentokil South Africa.

However, if you do find yourself being victim to a swarm of mosquitoes there are a few handy solutions you can try to ease the amount of itching.

These are some recommendations as highlighted by Healthline:
