Feeling stressed? These are the best stress relievers to try

by Chumasande Matiwane

If you are constantly stressed and it’s beginning to make you angry and grouchy, stress relievers are what you need. They can help bring back calm and peace to your busy life.

Everyone experiences stress, as it is your body’s physical and emotional response to new or challenging situations. Stress levels can increase when facing issues related to work, school, health, and relationships.

Although stress can be a normal coping response, fostering a healthy sense of your ability to solve it is key. When stress becomes long-term, it is known as chronic stress and can lead to worsening health problems.

Learning to cope healthily can help reduce your stress. Taking small steps to manage stress can have a big impact. You don’t have to put a lot of time or thought into stress relievers.

So, if your stress is getting out of control and you need quick relief, here are some tips worth considering, according to Psychology Today.

Get active: Any form of physical activity can act as a stress reliever. Even if you’re not an athlete or you’re out of shape, exercise can still be a good stress reliever.

Have a healthy diet: Eating a healthy diet is an essential part of taking care of yourself.

Avoid unhealthy habits: These can negatively impact your health.

Meditate: During meditation, you focus your attention and quiet the stream of jumbled thoughts that may be crowding your mind and causing stress.

Connect with people: When you’re stressed and irritable, you may want to isolate yourself indoors, but social connection is a good stress reliever because it releases oxytocin, while also providing a sense of connectedness and support.
