Get an A-list make-up look by using these quick tricks like a pro

Applying make-up can be intimidating, particularly when trying to keep up with new trends. Keletso Modisakeng gives us easy tips to master the art:

 Mascara

Applying mascara can be a messy ordeal that leaves you with black strokes on your skin and not enough on the lashes. No matter what the brand or size of the bristles, applying mascara on your bottom lashes can be tricky. Bottom lashes are shorter, so getting mascara on them can go from nothing to clumps that smudge. Using a teaspoon will help you achieve a fuller lash look on your bottom lashes without smudging.

 Tools:

Mascara

Clean teaspoon

 How to:

Starting from the roots, apply mascara to your top lashes then brush on top to give them intense colour and volume. Place a teaspoon facing down against your bottom lashes. Brush your bottom lashes over the teaspoon to straighten them out and remove unwanted product. Apply your mascara of choice over the bottom lashes

 Tips

Brushing your lashes with a clean toothbrush after application will remove clumps. Dust some powder onto your lashes between the first and second coat to plump them up. Place your closed old mascara in a cup of boiling water for five minutes to melt the clots inside.

 Cat Eye

Eyeliner is one of the most important make-up items that can give you a dramatic look. However, if not done right, it can leave you looking disastrous. Having an accurate cat eye is a trick that has not been mastered by most people due to the use of liquid liner, precision of eyeliner and time to correct it. Follow our guidelines for the perfect cat eye.

 Tools:

Sellotape

Powder

Pencil eyeliner/Liquid eyeliner

 How to:

Make a thin line from the inner to the outer corner of your eye using a kohl liner. The line should be as close to the lashes as possible. Brush some powder onto the sellotape so it doesn’t hurt your skin when you remove it. Place the tape at an upward angle on the outside corner of your eye.Beginning from the corner of the eye, draw the wing of your cat eye alongside the tape.
