WATCH: Ukhozi FM’s Zimdollar snatches mic from Mthandeni at gig

It was a microphone showdown as Ukhozi FM presenter and MC, Zimiphi ‘Zimdollar’ Biyela snatched the mic from Masakandi artist Mthandeni Manqele during the Mother of all Maskandi Festival event in Durban.

During the event, Zimdollar became irritated and grabbed the microphone from the Masakandi artist. This was because the artist arrived late and performed at an unallocated time. Events usually have a set schedule for when artists will perform, and delays can cause significant disruptions to the event’s schedule.

In a video circulating online, the MC walks up to Mthandeni and grabs the microphone whilst uttering the words ‘voets*k’.

Speaking to ZiMoja, Zimdollar said, “Mthandeni was booked and paid to perform at the event, he arrived late, and it was the turn of the top 30 artists in the competition to perform. He missed his turn and there was no more time, so he can go and we will not request a refund.”

She says this was explained to the artist’s team and that he was corporating only for him to jump on stage and perform.

According to IOL, the MC apologised for her vulgar language on stage but stated that her anger was justified given that he was late.

She told the above-mentioned source that she would not allow men to bully her given that she gave him a platform to showcase his talent.

“This is business, we are working. I do not hate him… He was wrong to do what he did, he does not respect other musicians, he cannot do as he pleases just because he is a man,” said Zimdollar.

An X (previously known as Twitter) user posted a video of what occurred during the event. Many users took to the comment section to say that the artist was unprofessional for conducting himself in that matter given that he was told to arrive at a certain time.

Context: Mthandeni Manqele performed but his performance was cut short because he came late. Fine!

Phila Madlingozi spoke on artists needing to respect one another.

Why you saying fine? Artists need to learn to respect each other. His time passed. He hustled his way in. And she called him out on it. Simple.
