Thousands of fans and avid viewers were buzzing with excitement when Liyema ‘Liema’ Pantsi was crowned the Big Brother Mzansi: Bazozwa winner.

Hailing from Qonce, Liema was among the returning housemates. She first rose to fame when she entered Big Brother Mzansi: S’yamosha (season 4). Her fans were saddened to see her leave a week before the finale, after she was given a choice to walk away with R250 000 or stay in the game to compete for the grand prize.

In this season, she was afforded a chance to change the narrative and redeem herself. She recently sat down with BONA to speak about her victory and unpack her experience in the house.

Having spent 10 weeks in the Big Brother house this season, the Let Me Be singer shared that she had missed being outside and enjoying fast food.

“I missed my loved ones. I missed walking and seeing the streets. That would get me really sad in the house, because I felt like the house was too small, and it was literally a big house.

“I also missed fast food, and that is the first thing that I did, I had KFC and McDonald’s,” said Liema.

She also shared that she is grateful to Big Brother Mzansi for the second chance, further revealing that she wanted to re-write her story and correct her mistakes.

“Big Brother said this is a redemption season, and I felt like in my last season I didn’t really have good memories to take with. I didn’t have ups, mostly downs. So, I wanted to come back and do things differently. Finish the race strong and enjoy myself,” she said.

Although she had plenty of fans rooting for her every single week, Liema revealed to BONA that she did not think she would emerge a winner this season.

“I doubted myself this season, because I felt like it’s a new season and new personalities, so you never know what people might think of me.

“I had so many moments of doubting myself, but there was a little hope in my mind because I remained true to myself,” she said.
