Singer-songwriter Lady Zamar took to TikTok to speak on the “misconceptions and misinformation” surrounding the rape allegations made against her ex partner Sjava.

The singer accused Sjava of sexual assault in 2019, which he denied. The case was presented before the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) in 2020 but was dropped due to insufficient evidence. Since then, Lady Zamar was labelled a liar by many.

The four-part TikTok video comes after Lady Zamar (real name Yamikani Janet Banda) spoke out about the constant backlash she receives from social media users when posting on her accounts.

In Part 1 of the video series, the Collide songstress start off saying, “Hi guys. I’m here to address a couple of thing that have popped up over the weekend. I just want to give clarity on some things and just say my thoughts. One of the more interesting that has happened is the amount of people that have vocalised their disapproval of me speaking out.”

She continued, “I’m naturally a very avoidant person so usually I avoid conflict, people and problems. I never really say what is wrong. I have since decided that my narrative is my own and nobody gets to tell my story for me, and for a couple of years now people have been telling my story for me. There are so many different versions of events that sometimes it’s kind of scary.”
