After disrespecting gospel singer and father of three Dumi Mkokstad during an interview with SABC Sports, Zulu rapper Big Zulu has taken time to apologise for his utterances.

This much spoken about incident happened during a celebrity soccer tournament between the gqom music team led by DJ Tira and the gospel music team led by Dumi Mkokstad.

Dumi stopped the match from going to a penalty shootout due to tournament rules broken by the gqom team which included bringing professional soccer players into the team and adding a female only in the last four minutes of the game when the rules stipulate that a female must play for at least 10 minutes.

An unhappy Big Zulu continuously called Dumi a boy while pointing a finger at him in an interview with sports presenter Andile Ncube of the SABC News.

Taking time to apologise for his utterances on his Instagram Live Big Zulu shared, “Firstly to the wife, and Dumi’s family I would like to profusely apologise to her and the kids.”

The Mali Eningi hitmaker went on to say, ” I’d also like to apologise to Dumi’s fans and all our fans who were at Tsakane Stadium yesterday to watch the match and those who watched the tournament, for all the mistakes that happened yesterday. Hearts were torn yesterday at the field ground and everyone who understands soccer knows that it does sometimes happen that hearts go on a rage at the field.

The singer further went on to say, “We need to understand that when we’re at the field playing we are equal, no one is above the other. Just because Dumi is a married man doesn’t mean he will be treated differently. We are all men and we speak anyhow when playing, due to the emotions attached to the game.”

Big Zulu went on to add that after the game, players usually speak about the exchange of words shared due to their adrenaline and love for the sport. He expressed that he was not trying to justify his utterances by explaining what happens in the field during a match, adding “I am not a violent person, I know when and how to pick my fights. I really want to apologise to Dumi’s family, his kids, family and our followers.”
