Sophie Ndaba set to make a comeback on screens

by Zintle Mdaka

Seasoned actress Sophie Ndaba well-known for the character of Queen Moroka that she portrayed on Generations, will once again grace the television screens as she is part of the 016FM cast.

Sophie will take part in the new Showmax drama series which will portray the youth culture in the Vaal. The show includes a dream cast such as Nthati Moshesh, Mapula Mafole, Mapaseka Koetle and the late Mpho Sebeng.

In an interview with the entertainment publication, ZiMoja, Sophie said she was headhunted to be part of the show.

“They called me and asked if I’d be interested in doing a self-tape for the character and they loved how I emulated the character and confirmed to me that’s the role I’ll play in a few days,” she said.

Speaking to the publication about her new role, the thespian said, “Being a great actor is not about doing a one take in all scenes, but rather bringing the character to life and working seamlessly well with your co-actors.

“We worked well on 016FM. Working with the new team is about sharing how they respect and feel honoured to have an opportunity to share a space/stage with you, especially the new kids on the block. It was awesome on 016FM from the producers, crew and talent. They truly made my experience on set great and memorable,” said Sophie.

Speaking to SowetanLIVE, Sophie said it was an honour working with the late Mpho on one of his final projects.

“The most honour I had was getting to experience Mpho, who I found quite well-mannered. He had so much respect for his craft and his colleagues. He wasn’t easily intimidated. We had superstars and well-known DJs come on set, but he stayed in his lane and delivered on what he had to do,” she said.
