Fans of the Scorpion Kings are in for a treat and a stress-free journey. Gautrain and the Passenger Rail Agency of South Africa (PRASA) have teamed up to offer special late-night train services for the Scorpion Kings Live [with Friends] concert at Loftus Versfeld Stadium this Friday.
The announcement, shared via PRASA’s TikTok account, comes just in time for thousands of concertgoers eager to experience the iconic performance while avoiding the usual post-show traffic nightmare.
How the Special Service Works
The service kicks off at 8:30 PM and will run until 1:45 AM, giving fans a safe alternative to driving. Gautrain passengers can connect at Pretoria Station, where PRASA trains will take them directly to Loftus Versfeld. After the show, return trips will run between Hatfield and Park Stations.
It’s important to note that the service won’t extend to Rhodesfield or O.R. Tambo International Airport. Concert organisers have also confirmed strict entry policies: gates open at 1 PM, the pre-show runs from 2 PM to 6 PM, the main show begins at 6 PM, and no entry is allowed after 9 PM. Pass-outs during the event are prohibited.
“The integrated train service is a seamless transport solution for concertgoers. They can avoid traffic congestion and the risks of drinking and driving by choosing our safe and convenient train option,” said Tshepo Kgobe, CEO of the Gautrain Management Agency.
He added, “This late-night integrated train service is exactly what is needed to help ease pressure on our roads.”
Safe Travel Back Home
After the concert ends, attendees can board PRASA trains at Loftus Versfeld to return to Pretoria Station, where they can transfer to the Gautrain for the final leg of their journey. The last PRASA train leaves Loftus at 1:30 AM, and the final Gautrain departs Pretoria at 1:45 AM.
Social media reaction has been largely positive, with many fans praising the initiative as a smart way to enjoy the music without worrying about traffic, parking, or drinking and driving.
“Finally, a concert where I don’t have to stress about getting home at 2 AM,” one fan tweeted.
By integrating Gautrain and PRASA services, organisers have created a smooth, convenient, and safe travel option for music lovers, showing that public transport can be a practical solution for major events in Pretoria.
