Open Mic has been under a lot of fire in the media recently. A few of their artists have come forward, claiming that they have been exploited by the record label. One of these artists would be Sbala B, who released a string of posts detailing his experiences with the record label. However, the singer later denounced these claims and stated the posts were written by a former manager.

The singer had spoken to media outlets like ZiMoja, claiming that Open Mic had not paid him. However, recently, the singer released a video publicly apologising to the record label. He clarifies by saying that the post was written by someone who used to work for him and that he doesn’t have a problem with Open Mic.

Last week, the singer asserted that he had produced several big hits for Open Mic Productions but hadn’t been compensated for them.

In 2021, Sbala B moved from his hometown of KwaMhlanga in Mpumalanga to Johannesburg for a better life and to further his career. He simply couldn’t pass up the opportunity to work with Open Mic. He states that the reason he wanted to advance his career was so that he could take care of his grandmother, who raised him. Open Mic promised him everything that he wanted but failed to carry it out. Open Mic failed to pay him royalties for the songs that he made and tried to meddle in how he wanted to run his career.

Sbala B further stated that, apart from the failed promises, it feels like Open Mic has set him back and destroyed his dreams. However, the singer remains hopeful and has faith in his career.
