As most people are enjoying holidays, there are many places one can visit in the Eastern Cape. If you like adventure and being outdoors basking in the sun, these spots may be for you.

Eastern Cape is not just rich in tourism but in diversity, and traditions and offers a rich culture.

Here are some spots in the Eastern Cape:

  1. Addo Elephant National Park

If you enjoy fun activities like horseback rides, hiking, bird watching and wildlife viewing you may enjoy this park. The park is situated in Gqeberha and does not need to be booked unless a visitor wants to partake in organised activities. The park also has picnic and braai sites, as well as shops and restaurants.

Visitors can drive around the reserve for a tour in their vehicles, or make use of the guided tours with the reserve’s vehicle.

2. Striptease Trail, Tsitsikamma

For a dip in the rock pools, you can visit Tsitsikamma. This trail is situated in the heart of one of South Africa’s most ancient and beautiful indigenous forests.

The river trail which boasts 11 natural rock pools set along 5km of Garden Route Forest is managed by the award-winning Tsitsikamma Lodge and Spa. The crystal rock pools have catchy names, like the Bikini pool, the Topless pool, the bottomless pool, the halfway pool, the Boobs pool, the Fantasy pool and lastly the Kaalgat pool (nude pool).

3. Mkambati Nature Reserve

Situated in Port St Johns, the coastal reserve consists mostly of open grassland and perennial streams surrounded by the forested Msikaba and Mtentu rivers. The visitors can enjoy the coastal stretches along 10km of rugged and rocky beaches.

The reserve placed close to the KwaZulu-Natal border also offers a glimpse of nature and wildlife. Other scenic features include forested ravines, a swamp forest and splashing waterfalls including the one that falls straight into the sea.
