Controversial poet and activist Ntsiki Mazwai slams the Minister of Sports, Art & Culture for not doing his job after news broke that Skomota was defrauded by his manager.

Ntsiki, known to not hold back her words when it comes to the country’s current affairs and celebrity news, took to X (previously known as Twitter) where she commented on the country not having any laws that protects the art industry, taking a jab at Minister of Sports, Art & Culture, Zizi Kodwa for not fighting for the rights of artists.

This is not time the Ministry of Sports, Art & Culture has been slammed for not doing its job, as the former Minister of Sports Nathi Mthethwa, who ran from 2019 to 2023 came under fire after allegedly mismanaging over R300 million that was meant to go to artists and creatives during COVID, as a way to help them.

Ntsiki’s response comes after news broke that internet sensation Skomota was being defrauded thousands of rands by his manager Moruti wa Dikota. Many users speculated that Skomota was being exploited because of his disability.

Did we not tell you that there are no LAWS in SA arts scene? And that we have no minister? https://t.co/Xr5y3UdaxM

One user commented:

Remember when Mam Vatiswa wrote an open letter directed to the then minister people focused on the production company she worked for

Another said:

Mam @AdvBMkhwebane did incicate that she was worried about Skomota and how he is being exploited.

One user agreed with Ntsiki on the industry not having agencies to protect artists’ rights.

True we don’t have agencies to protect the rights of our artists/entertainers!
