Let the Good Vibes Bloom: Must-Listen Tracks to Brighten Your October

by Zaghrah Anthony

Spring Into Sound: October’s Freshest Tracks

As Johannesburg mornings grow warmer and the jacarandas bloom, October comes alive not just in colour, but in sound. Whether you’re cruising through the city streets with the windows down or winding down after a long day, this month’s music releases promise to lift your spirits, stir your emotions, and get your body moving.

From South African dance floors to global hip hop hits, here’s a guide to the songs making waves this October.

“Ukuphumelela” – Miza Feat. BosPianii & Sponch Makhekhe

Kicking things off with a homegrown anthem, Miza’s “Ukuphumelela” is a soulful 3-step house track rooted in South Africa’s vibrant dance music culture. The IsiZulu title translates to “to succeed”—a fitting message of triumph and perseverance.

With BosPianii’s melodic layers and Sponch Makhekhe’s magnetic delivery, the song blends rhythm and emotion, encouraging listeners to embrace resilience and celebrate victories, big and small. It’s a track that moves the body and lifts the spirit, reflecting the energy of South Africa’s ever-evolving music scene.

“More Than Just a Man” – Stimela

From the legends of South African soul, Stimela returns with a track from their album Through the Storm. “More Than Just a Man” honours the quiet heroes—the fathers, sons, and husbands who hold communities together.

Lead vocalist Sam Ndlovu describes it as a tribute to men who often go unnoticed, quietly shaping the world around them. With the band’s signature soulful sound, the song resonates across generations, reminding us of the enduring power of music to celebrate everyday heroes.

“Money On Money” – Young Thug Feat. Future

Crossing the ocean to the United States, hip hop heavyweights Young Thug and Future collaborate on “Money On Money” from Young Thug’s UY Scuti. A hard-hitting beat produced by Wheezy drives verses about ambition, loyalty, and the costs of success.

The video, shot in a shipyard with luxury cars blazing and the Young Stoner Life logo burning, captures a sense of triumph and rebellion. For fans of bold, in-your-face hip hop, this is a track that demands attention.

“Progress” – Lusanda

South African R&B singer Lusanda invites listeners on an introspective journey with “Progress”. Produced by a team including Biako, Sunny Kale, Charlotte Day Wilson, and Matthew Tavares, the track opens with quiet uncertainty before blossoming into radiant optimism.

Lusanda describes the layered instrumentation as “whimsical and warm,” designed to evoke the feeling of growth and hope. With her distinct voice and emotional depth, “Progress” balances vulnerability with resilience—a perfect reminder that personal evolution is a journey worth celebrating.

“Homesick” – Ben Rodrigues

Pop artist Ben Rodrigues taps into nostalgia and youthful longing with “Homesick”, inspired by the energy of One Direction and 5 Seconds of Summer. Written for his girlfriend Talisha, the song explores the ache of long-distance love.

“For me, home isn’t a place, it’s her,” Rodrigues explains.

Marking a pivotal moment before his debut album in early 2026, “Homesick” combines anthemic melodies with heartfelt storytelling, giving fans a deeply personal glimpse into Rodrigues’ world.

“Another Chance” – AB Crazy

Rounding out October’s lineup, AB Crazy returns with “Another Chance”, a song about resilience and starting over.

“This song means a lot to me because it’s about finding the courage to start again,” Crazy shares.

With raw honesty and hopeful energy, the track speaks to anyone navigating setbacks or seeking renewal. AB Crazy’s narrative reminds us that every day offers a fresh opportunity to rise, create, and connect through music.

October’s Soundtrack: A Celebration of Life and Growth

From soulful house to reflective R&B, and from pop nostalgia to global hip hop, October’s releases are a reminder that music is both a companion and a celebration. These six tracks capture the warmth, hope, and energy of the season—perfect for road trips, late-night reflections, or simply letting the good vibes bloom.

Whether you’re tuning in locally or streaming worldwide, these songs prove that October is shaping up to be a month where music moves both body and soul.
