The CEO of Jozi FM, Mpho Mhlongo, has shared why the radio station has hired former Gagazi FM presenter, Penny Ntuli.

Penny Ntuli bagged herself a new job offer at the radio station to be the host of the Mid-morning Chat show from 9 am to 12 pm after she had declined an offer of getting a R2800 monthly salary at Gagasi FM.

Mpho stated that they hired Penny Ntuli because that is what the community radio needed.

According to Sunday World, Mpho said that Penny’s talent cannot go to waste. He explained that they hired Penny because of the various talents she has, and they wanted to allow her to do what she was gifted to do. “She is an inspiration to many people if you understand her background and people are inspired by her journey in this industry that has scarce opportunities.”

The CEO also revealed that when they reached out to her, she said that she wanted to take a break from radio. This is when he reminded her that the world is moving which means a lot of people might move on and she could be forgotten.

“She does not have anything that puts her in an advantageous position, her willpower to achieve and go beyond is what made me give her another shot on the radio. We need to get a lot of people inspired by her and for us, it was about giving her that platform to continue shining,” added Mpho.

Mpho concluded by saying that since the radio host joined their team, she is pushing them to get out of their comfort zone because, with Penny there, they now have a huge number of listeners, meaning they need to work harder.
