Internet users amused by Anele Mdoda’s ‘R5 parking scam’

by Sergio Miller

Regardless of whether others deem the situation as being big or small, Anele Mdoda has proven that she will stand firm for what belongs to her.

The well-known media personality and radio presenter had the X (formerly Twitter) community in stitches after she took to the social media platform to share how she nearly got scammed at a local parking lot.

Taking to the platform, the outspoken mother of young Alakhe wrote: “This mall thinks I’m going to let them keep my R5 that the parking machine didn’t pay me. I’m going to wait here till someone brings it. Tired of being scammed.”

The post evoked mixed reactions from followers in the comment section, with some people relating to her situation, and others finding her actions completely absurd.

In response to her tweet, one user supported the radio presenter adding that if the roles were reversed, Anele would have been expected to pay the R5.

Another user agreed that these were all scams, saying that as everyone’s R5 builds up, it equates to a large sum of money.

I did that at OR Tambo … I went to go collect my R25 change.. it is my money. I waited in a long queue .. others were there for clamped vehicles.. ???the fight was on … I think They had to pay R2k

Joh the other day I counted my change at the till and told the cashier I’m short of R1 change. The look I got. So I feel you, it’s enough with this small anyana scamming now, even if it’s R1 or R5, it’s the principle of it really

Meanwhile, some X users found her situation particularly funny due to the fact that just recently, the 39-year-old became a big spender by accidentally purchasing a bottle of expensive tequila that amounted to R16,000.

To remind Anele about her lavish December lifestyle, another X user wrote: “I blame the tequila.”
