Television and radio show host Penny Lebyane has come forward in support of Penny Ntuli after the former Gagasi FM radio show host detailed that she rejected the Durban based station’s salary offer of R2800 a month for a Sunday show.

The revelation, currently circulating on the internet was not received well by many internet users including Penny Lebyane who is known for her bravery and strong support for women.

Taking it to her social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, Penny shared a series of post where she commented on the difficulties faced by women in the radio industry and the remuneration radio show hosts receive from radio stations even though they work hard.

She started by sharing the PennyNtuli hashtag and proceeded to ask for Gagasi FM owners.

The mother of two went further to share that being a talented radio show presenter was worse than those with no talent, commenting:

Radio is painful but even harder for women no matter how talented you are especially on #BlackRadio it’s actually better when u are not talented to make a quick buck since the #ItGirls and #Influencer Era… #EqualPay for #EqualWork on Radio #PennyNtuli

This topic which ticked off many people the wrong way, after coming to the realisation that some radio stations offer people less than their worth, led to Penny sharing roughly how much she was earning during her years at Metro FM.

If l told u how much l make on radio currently u’ll be equally shocked and even the highest amount l made when l left #MetroFm in 2010/11 l was never paid more than 30k even when l hosted 12:00 to 15:00 but man even wt a single shows
got more and my “Cohosts” got more?

Slamming radio show hosts who won’t show support to Penny Ntuli due to their worry about contract negotiations which usually come with major changes on the 1st of April every year after presenter and show reviews, Penny shared:

Many radio personalities won’t stand with #PennyNtuli cause its contract negotiations season and they are afraid of losing work also others are opportunistic and hypocrite to say anything so she’s on her own. But @PennyNtuli12 don’t cower stand tall sis… #PennyNtuli

She continued:

With all said & done..Me l love radio and I’m good for it hence l refused to take the BS that comes with it behind the scenes. But they can’t take away my IMPACT as for money well l am an Industrious being hv always been. I literally at times have done it for nothing. #IamRadio❤️‍?
