The reality competition Tropika Island of Treasure kicked off its eleventh season on SABC 3 and one of its standout contestants, actor and dancer Hungani Ndlovu known for his roles in Scandal! and Skeem Saam, has shared that the experience was both tough and rewarding.
In an exclusive interview with The Citizen, Hungani admitted that the experience was more than what he expected even though the challenges were hard, he found the experience refreshing and meaningful, “The experience was better than I expected. I thought I’d be annoyed by the process, but it turned out to be uplifting and a confidence boost for me.”
Taking to Instagram, Hungani shared some fun memories from the competition, focusing on the strong bonds he formed with fellow contestants.
Hungani wrote, “The bonds that were formed behind the scenes of @mytropika Island of Treasure every day was a good day regardless of how difficult the challenges were! The sportsmanship around us was incredible!!”
In his post, Hungani also mentioned fellow contestant Chad Jones, who added a dose of humour to the show. “Side note: @chad_13jones is hilarious!”

He further told the entertainment publication that despite training, the tasks were very different from what he expected, and each challenge came as a surprise. He even faced a near-drowning incident, making the competition even tougher for him.
