South Africans interested in rubbing shoulders with political elites in the uMkhonto weSizwe Party have paid an arm and a leg to live this experience.
The uMkhonto weSizwe Party recently announced that it will be hosting its annual Youth Development Golf Day event at the Durban Royal Golf Club on 11 July.
The annual event, which appears to have seen continuous success in the past, welcomes sports enthusiasts from all walks of life to give themselves a great time while having a chance to network with a number of delegates in the political sphere.
This is where things get interesting. The event comes with several packages, each guaranteed to cater to your preference.
These packages include:
- Bronze – R50 000 for golf and gala dinner with party Members of Parliament.
- Silver – R100 000 for golf and gala dinner with MK Party deputy president, John Hlophe.
- Gold – R250 000 for golf and gala dinner with MK Party president, Jacob Zuma.
Taking to X (formerly known as X), many have since shared their thoughts on the extravagant pricing.
Who has this kinda money?

One user criticised the party for promoting a youth development event, while noting that none of the guys in the advertisement were under the age of 50.
None of the guys in that picture is younger than 50yrs, now how’s that a youth event?

Others emphasised the need for the party to focus on more serious matters happening in the country, instead of throwing elaborate events that might not make a difference.
We losing ground outside KZN but the NHC see fit to concentrate to programs only in KZN. Stop embarrassing us and show leadership. SG office empty cause of jealousy but cant find amongst party so called leaders a fit for purpose person.
