The Met Gala, one of the most talked-about events in the fashion world, is back with a new theme for this year: ‘The Garden of Time’. South Africa’s youngest Grammy winner, Tyla, made her first debut at the event and impressed the audience with her stunning interpretation of the theme.

This annual event is a big moment for designers all over the world as they get to showcase their amazing pieces, with some celebrities missing the theme and others delivering year after year the Met Gala is one for the books.

Here’s a look into the top 5 Met Gala looks for 2024:

1. Zendaya

American actress Zendaya donned a stunning John Galliano piece inspired by a 1999 Dior dress. The royal blue and emerald green gown was adorned with fruit tree-inspired embellishments.

2. Tyla

The musician embodied the theme with her Balmain dress made entirely of sand pairing it with an hourglass hand bag.

3. Nicki Minaj

PICTURE: X

Designer Marni dressed Nicki Minaj in a yellow mini-dress with 3D  flowers in all shapes and sizes, making her look one of the night’s most vibrant and devoted.

 

4. Bad Bunny

Latino musician, Bad Bunny wore a Renaissance-inspired custom Maison Margiela suit in navy blue with white stitching.

5. Lana Del Ray

PICTURE: X

 

Singer Lana Del Rey wore a tree-like gown at the Met Gala, which according to BBC was inspired by late fashion designer Alexander McQueen’s collection from nearly twenty years ago. The fashion house’s current creative director, Seán McGirr, updated the dress.
