DJ Tira out to clear his name in court battle against Luke Ntombela

by Sergio Miller

Award-winning musician Mthokozi Khathi, popularly known as DJ Tira is eager to get his name and reputation cleared as he takes on Luke Ntombela in a legal case on Friday.

This comes after the former Clash of the Choirs contestant alleged that Tira had raped her after she found herself waking up in his bed following a blackout the previous night.

In May the singer went public with the allegations, sharing snippets of their conversations on social media platforms as well as candidly addressing it in radio interviews.

Following the allegations, Tira and his legal team addressed the situation by urging Luke to retract her comments to avoid legal action taken against her. While the time frame given to her was 7 days, she has since ignored his request which has resulted in him and his team acting.

Speaking on the matter with DJ Sbu on Radio2000, Tira’s wife Gugu touched on the matter, saying:

“It’s become a trend over the years. We’ve started to realise that every time we are working on something big, something comes. There’s a lot of big things we’re working on now and I think three days after we spoke to say this is what we’re going to do, this happens,” she explained.

She explained that the allegations have been disrupting the success of their business and future ventures.

“We’re doing the marquee and we’ve got sponsors; they worry when things like this happen.  They want to see what you say…it’s not about the pressure between us, it’s how you protect the business relationship, and people don’t want to worry when working with you,” she said.
