A landmark achievement

According to Spotify data, Fire Fire — a collaboration between Shimza, AR/CO and Kasango — was released in June 2025 and has become one of the most successful songs in Shimza’s catalogue. The track currently ranks among his most-streamed releases on the platform and has enjoyed strong international traction.

The achievement is particularly significant in an era where streaming numbers have become a key measure of an artist’s global reach. Reaching 100 million streams places a song in an elite category of recordings that have resonated with audiences far beyond their home markets.

South African dance music on the global stage

For Shimza, the milestone underscores his growing influence in the international electronic music scene. Over the past decade, the Tembisa-born artist has built a reputation as one of South Africa’s leading exports, performing at major festivals and collaborating with artists from across the world.

Fire Fire has helped strengthen that global profile, introducing his sound to new audiences while showcasing the continued international appeal of South African dance music. Spotify data also shows Shimza attracting millions of monthly listeners, reflecting the momentum behind his recent releases.

A moment worth celebrating

While streaming milestones are increasingly common among global superstars, they remain a notable achievement for African electronic artists. For Shimza, crossing the 100 million-stream threshold is both a personal victory and another sign that South African talent continues to make an impact on the world stage.
