Ramapolo Hugh Masekela Home is whether the blues panther, Jazzes daddy’s gramophone, With a plethora of trumpet’s beats. Home is the congregation of the Masekela quintet, Defying the logic of main stream, Reminiscing the 50’s Sophiatown, Not Troimfville of the past days mediocrity. Home is where the trumpeter and poet, Storyteller and romantic dine in a single song, Competing not against the ascending melody, But in harmony to the dominance of the trumpet’s lead. Home is where Rampholo Hugh Masekela, The America Hughie does his thing, again and again. Leaving not the passage of time, Just emptying my whiskey and tobacco. Marukgwane #HughMasekela
