The announcement was met with an outpouring of love and support from fellow musicians and South Africans.
We wish him a speedy recovery.
One of the people who have been hardest on me. Because he believes in me. Every chance I am in his presence he shows me what black excellence is. Gives me something to aspire to. We were in New York here. I snuck in to see him perform in this quaint jazz club where he was joined on stage by the sweet @somimusic. I’m heartbroken that he is suffering. I hope he’s surrounded by lots of love and that everything will be ok
We wish Jazz Legend bra Hugh Masekela a speedy recovery as he continues to fight prostate cancer. Our prayers are with him & his loved ones. pic.twitter.com/fOgtuBOSn1
