Sbahle Mpisane opens her eyes and breathes on her own

Sbahle Mpisane speaks first words since car accident

Fitness influencer Sbahle Mpisane, also known as the Fitness Bunny, has made progress since being hospitalised, following a devastating car accident which resulted in her being put on life support.

The news had many South Africans taking to social media to send their well wishes.

Speaking to Tshisa Live on Monday, her father Sbu Mpisane said Sbahle’s internal bleeding has lessened, and she was breathing on her own.

Sbu further confirmed that today ­– Sbahle has opened her eyes, but is still not in the clear.

It has been reported that police detectives are probing the circumstances which led to the accident, and have registered a case of reckless and negligent driving.

According to IOL, paramedics had to use the Jaws of Life equipment to remove Sbahle who was trapped in her BMW, which is believed to have struck a pole.

The accident took place at 4am, Thursday morning on Margaret Mncadi Avenue, formerly known as Victoria Embankment in Durban.

Sbahle has since been in ICU, receiving medical treatment at Netcare St Augustine’s Hospital.
